The School of Chemical Engineering in Dalian University of Technology (DUT) has a strong team of 140 faculty members including 40 Professors, 45 Associate Professors, 7 Senior Engineers, 47 PhD Advisors, 1 Academician, 2 “Thousand Talents (Qian Ren)” Professors under the National Recruitment of Global Thousands Talents Program, 2 Distinguished Professors of Cheung Kong Scholars Program, 4 Winners of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Distinguished Young Scholars, 2 Winners of the Ministry of Education of “Cross Century Talent” Fund, 16 Recipients of the Ministry of Education of the “New Century Outstanding Talents” Support Program. The School has first-class Chemical Engineering discipline group. The first-level discipline of Chemical Engineering and Technology covers the national key disciplines of Chemical Engineering, Chemical Process, Applied Chemistry and Industrial Catalysis. The School has built several high level platforms for teaching and research innovation, and also has formed a distinctive high-level talent training system.

The “Thousand Talents Program” Team of Prof. Chunshan Song at DUT School of Chemical Engineering now has open positions for recruiting outstanding faculty members, especially those who would qualify for the Global Experts “Young Thousand Talents” Professors, which are tenured faculty positions. The Song’s Team currently has 8 faculty members including 2 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 1 Lecturer, 1 Engineer, and also has one Visiting Professor in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University as a “Sea Sky Scholar” of DUT. Prof. Chunshan Song is the Director of the EMS Energy Institute and a Distinguished Professor at the Pennsylvania State University. He is the Director of the Joint Center for Energy Research established between Penn State and Dalian University of Technology where he is a Distinguished Professor of “Thousand Talents Program” at DUT School of Chemical Engineering. Prof. Xinwen Guo is the administrative group leader in the Song’s QianRen Team who is the Vice Dean of Faculty of Chemical, Environmental and Biological Science and Technology in DUT. Now, there are over 40 students in the Song’ Team including Master and PhD students. The current research interests focus on 1) CO2 capture, conversion and utilization; 2) Synthesis and applications of nano-porous catalytic and sorbent materials; 3) Design and synthesis of Fe-based Fenton catalysts; 4) Synthesis of novel materials for photocatalysis; 5) Design and synthesis of MOF materials and applications; 6) Computational catalysis; 7) Zeolite catalysis in various reaction processes such as alkylation; 8) Synthesis and application of porous carbon materials.

Applications are specially sought in areas of chemical engineering, chemistry and materials research with particular emphasis on, but not limited to heterogeneous catalysis and catalytic materials. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in a related discipline and demonstrated research expertise in catalysis or catalytic materials. Applicants at the postdoctoral researcher or assistant professor levels without tenure must have a demonstrated record of outstanding research accomplishment and excellent credentials, and also have the potential to do high-quality original research and to teach effectively.

The successful candidate should be a creative researcher in catalysis or catalytic materials and also contribute to the collaborative research in the Team as well as to the School in these areas by developing an externally funded research program, publishing in high-quality research journals, contributing to the undergraduate and graduate education and participating in collaborative and multidisciplinary research and education with academic departments across the University. The Song’s Team and the School are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute effectively, through their original research, teaching, and service, to the excellence and the diversity of the Team and the School.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with the ranks of associate, full professor, and “Young Thousand Talents” Professor, depending on the specific qualifications of the candidates. Benefits will be provided based on the University’s policy.

Associate Professor: 150,000 RMB/Year; Full Professor: 200,000 RMB/Year; “Young Thousand Talents” Professor: 400,000 RMB/Year
