Salary: Salary circa £25,500 - £26,500 per annum depending on skills and experience, plus significant training package (£6,000 over 3 years)
Applicants are invited to apply for the above role which is a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the University of Nottingham (School of Computer Science) and E.On UK PLC. This project will focus on developing innovative services to customers using advanced big data science to maintain E.On’s leading industry position as an Energy provider by analyzing their energy management systems.
You will be employed by the University of Nottingham but will be based at E.On UK, Nottingham.
The post holder should have:
- A postgraduate degree (PhD or MSc) in any of these areas: data science, computer science, artificial intelligence or closely related discipline. Graduates with a good first degree in Computer Science and significant experience in Data Science may also be considered.
- Knowledge and expertise in at least a subset of the core techniques required in this project: data analysis, data mining, machine learning, modelling and optimisation.
- Experience in at least a subset of specialised tools such as R, Scala, Python, Hadoop, Spark, and Machine Learning libraries.
- Excellent communication skills and experience in working as part of a team. He/she should also have experience in writing reports and conducting effective bibliographic research.
- Good knowledge of software development methodologies and some experience developing professional software is also desirable.
E.ON UK PLC engages in generating and distributing electricity, and retailing power and gas in the United Kingdom. E.ON generates electricity from a portfolio of coal, oil, gas, wind, and biomass power plants. E.ON also provides services to customers to heat their homes and understand their energy usage and home installation services.
The academic team is composed of Dr. Isaac Triguero and Dr. Dario Landa-Silva from the School of Computer Science. Dr. Triguero’s research focuses on advanced big data analytics. Dr. Landa-Silva’s research includes novel models to tackle operational optimisation problems.
