Applications are invited for a position in the Department of Architecture at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU).

The Department of Architecture is part of a young Sino-British university in the greater Shanghai area on a vibrant campus with state of the art facilities. The department is seeking new members for its international faculty to support its high ambitions. Its mission is to create new models of architectural education, research and practice, firmly rooted in both East and West. Applications are invited in all areas of architecture and architectural design. Experience or proven interest in the Chinese/Asian context is an advantage. Applications from candidates with specific experience in architectural education in the first two years of the Bachelor degree, demonstrating innovative skills and methods in early years design pedagogy, are welcome. Contributions to the administration of the department and the university are expected.

Successful applicants for the position of Associate Professor will have a PhD, and a teaching experience in tertiary education of ideally six years or more in the field of architectural design. Candidates are expected to teach design studios and lecture courses at undergraduate and graduate level and ideally will have experience in curriculum development. Candidates are expected to develop a research agenda related, but not limited to, the research strategy of the department, which focuses on three areas: History, Theory and Heritage; Computational Design and Fabrication; and Urban Ecologies.
