Senior Lecturer in Education (Mathematics Specialist)

The Role

In this role, you'll join our team of committed academics who enable students to transform lives through their practice. You'll teach on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in initial teacher education and wider studies in education, specifically in mathematics. You'll also supervise and support students on practice placements.

You'll also be actively engaged in research, scholarship and innovation through our Education Research Group.

This is a full time, permanent role with a starting salary of £42,331 per annum.

The Person

You are an inspirational teacher who is passionate about mathematics and teacher education. You've taught in primary or secondary schools and have developed and led the subject in either age phase. You are creative, flexible and enthusiastic about responding to new developments in education.

You are currently or keen to become a research-engaged academic. You'll contribute new knowledge to the field of education through your research and scholarly activity and, in turn, enhancing students' learning and practice.

You are also someone who relishes the opportunity to undertake a wider area of responsibility in the School.

Applicants will be required to demonstrate that they meet the Kingston University standards in learning and teaching, and research.  By the end of the probation period, you must have achieved the relevant level of UKPSF recognition (if this has not already been obtained). 

For those new to teaching, this will be through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching and for those experienced in teaching, through our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework. 

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required, this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
