The Department of Computer Science at the University of Surrey invites applications for the permanent post of Teaching Fellow B in Computer Science.

Surrey is recognised as an Academic Centre of Excellence for Cyber Security Research by GCHQ and our key areas of research are security and machine learning. Our teaching programmes are recognised by BCS and GCHQ.

We have a very active student community through CompSoc, CyberSoc, HackSurrey and the STEM society. Our students are highly engaged in Hackathons, national and international cyber security competitions and networking events. Our programmes have high rates of graduate employment and industrial placements are a key element of our undergraduate programmes.

The post holders must have a strong commitment to teaching and learning. They will have the ability to inspire our students through their curiosity for leading-edge aspects of technology.  Duties will include leading the delivery of modules on both the UG and MSc programmes, running labs and tutorials, project supervision, marking project work, assessing coursework and examinations and giving some lectures. The post holders will be expected to engage with industry in order to develop collaborations to maintain the Department’s ability to deliver effective courses and innovate new ideas for new modules and programmes.

Applicants will normally be expected to have a PhD in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience and have an emerging or established reputation for excellent teaching for example in programming, web technologies or foundational courses. The successful candidates will also be expected to contribute to the administration and teaching leadership within the Department.

Interviews will be held week commencing 21 May 2018.

This is a full-time and permanent position. We would expect appointed candidates to start after June 2018 in time for the next academic year.
