The University of Salford’s single strategic priority is the delivery of ‘Industry Collaboration Zones’ (ICZs) which aim to unite colleagues, students, industry and communities through shared knowledge, learning and innovation. By pioneering exceptional industry partnerships the university aims to lead the way in real world experiences, preparing students for life.
The Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) division underpins and supports the ICZ strategy, operating a team of knowledge transfer professionals, including a Technology Transfer Office (TTO). The TTO seeks to maximise the returns from our research through the successful commercialisation of the research output. Key to this is the successful identification and management of our intellectual property (IP) assets through spin out companies and licensing through the University’s commercialisation company, University of Salford Enterprises, and other group companies.
The university is seeking to grow this activity across all areas of the University and in particular to increase our commercial revenue earning capabilities. This work is of increasing importance in a Higher Education environment that is in the midst of ongoing changes to the way it is funded.
Reporting to the IP Manager, the IP Associate will support the TTO through the identification and management of IP opportunities. The role provides an exciting opportunity to work with innovators and entrepreneurs at the University from its Academic, Enterprise and Professional Service areas and to manage the development of ideas and business opportunities from their conception through to successful commercial activity.
