Salary: Salary will be within the Professorial range, minimum £60,410 per annum

Nottingham’s Department of Architecture & Built Environment spans a wide variety of disciplines including Architectural Humanities; Design; Digital Design; Tectonics, Architectural Structures, Materials & Construction; Urban Design; Hyperdensity & Tall Buildings; Energy & Environment; New & Renewable Energy Technologies; Environmental Science, Psychophysics, Occupant Behaviour and the Design of Indoor Environments. 

The Opportunity

  • This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished and ambitious individual to further their academic career in Architecture at a dynamic Russell Group University.   • As an inspiring and collaborative leader, the Professor of Architecture will have the opportunity to create a distinctive centre of excellence in a chosen architectural discipline, and will develop a high performing team that engages in interdisciplinary working to generate internationally recognised, REF-eligible outputs 
  • Beyond developing a personal research profile, the Professor of Architecture will make a tangible contribution to an environment that supports and encourages colleagues to excel in teaching as well as research, and promote a culture that exploits the Department’s unique opportunities for colleagues in engineering and architecture to work closely together 
  • As part of a broader strategy, you will be expected to engage with Faculty and University level committees to identify and exploit collaborative opportunities that lie untapped

About You

  • You will be internationally recognised in your personal field of expertise, supplementing or complementing existing disciplines within the Department of Architecture & Built Environment
  • Well-networked in practice and academia, nationally and internationally, you will have a personal track record of establishing collaborations and attracting significant research funding from sources such as practice, industry, Research Councils and the EU
  • Whatever your background or discipline, you will be a proven leader who will bring strong interpersonal skills, a natural inclination towards collaboration, supportive team working, and the passion to inspire and motivate colleagues to achieve your vision
  • In addition to identifying and promoting key research areas for your team, you will be passionate about teaching including delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, supervision of individual and group projects, and pastoral care

This is a full time, 36.25 hours per week, permanent position. However, applications are invite from candidates wish to work part time. Job share arrangements may be considered.
