Media Relations Manager

University of Oxford - Public Affairs,University Offices

Grade 7

The University of Oxford is seeking an exceptional and creative communicator with a passion for telling stories about world-changing research and new technologies. Working as part of the newly formed Research and Innovation Communications team, you’ll help share news of the latest discoveries and innovations from one of the world’s leading universities.

As well as contributing to cross-disciplinary campaigns around cutting-edge topics such as AI and machine learning, you’ll act as a first point of contact for media issues relating to Oxford’s Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences academic division. You’ll be comfortable working across a broad range of digital media and channels, in addition to the traditional press officer’s methods.

With first-hand communications and media experience at a high level, you’ll have a nose for a story, creative flair, and the ability to engage key non-media audiences including politicians and policymakers, industry representatives, and funding bodies. You’ll also be contributing to a weekend rota involving reactive handling of sensitive corporate and policy issues.

If you’re keen to be part of a dynamic, busy communications team in an intellectually stimulating environment, we want to hear from you.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Stuart Gillespie, Head of Research and Innovation Communications, tel: 01865 283877.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Thursday 26 April 2018. Interviews will be held in the week beginning Monday 14 May 2018.
