Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Applications are sought for a post-doctoral research assistant to join the O’Shaughnessy group in the Centre for Cell Biology and Cutaneous Research, Blizard Institute within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. The post is funded by Barts Charity to study the role of AKT signalling in Skin Cancer Progression.

The postholder must have a PhD in the area of biological sciences. Essential requirements for this post include experience of working in a biomedical research laboratory, as well as experience of mammalian cell culture, western blotting, immunostaining and QPCR. Knowledge in the field of 3D organotypic cultures and RNA-sequencing analysis and Cancer Biology would be an advantage. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

The post is full time for 3 years. Starting salary will be £32,956 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
