South China University of Technology (SCUT) invites applications for the position of Assistant or Full Professor at the International School of Advanced Materials (ISAM).

ISAM
SCUT is one of China’s top universities supported by Project 985. The location is Guangzhou. The School of Materials Science and Engineering (SMSE) is one of four disciplines awarded "Dual First Class" subjects at SCUT.

ISAM is a part of the Network of International Centres for Education in China (NICE), which supports universities in establishing international schools by introducing international faculty members, led by internationally renowned academics and reinforced by a range of dedicated supportive policies. The academic strength of ISAM is further supported by the ample shared resources of SMSE. The two unites jointly generate more than 300 SCI papers published in top journals including Science, Nat. Photonics, Adv. Mater., Small, Appl. Phys. Lett., etc. The research outcome includes more than $20m research funding and 200 patents annually. Job Description and Qualifications:
We are seeking to appoint a Assistant / Full professor in Material Science. A qualified candidate is expected to have a PhD degree in Material Science, Physics, Chemistry or related disciplines, with experience in the innovative delivery of teaching to undergraduate-level students.

The post holders will act as one of the key liaison points with undergraduate students and work with ISAM to develop and deliver a contemporary curriculum to undergraduate students. The main duties associated with the post are as follows:

  • Course delivery for courses related to Material Science, including (but not limited to): nano materials, composite materials, polymer materials, energy materials, semiconductor materials, ceramic materials, biomaterials, etc.
  • Contribution to the academic administration.
  • Supervision and assessment of BSc (and possibly MSc) student projects.
  • Helping ISAM improve its engagement with industry and enhance students' employability.
  • Supporting and growing key international partners.

Contract type:

  • three month / one year contract
  • with the possibility to extend to three years or long-term contract

Salary and benefit:
The whole package includes:

  • salary of RMB 300,000 – 800,000 per annum or pro rata, negotiable according to the applicants’ experiences and is very competitive by the US and the UK standards
