Campus: Hammersmith

Full-time, Fixed Term for 3 years

A fully funded 3-year postdoctoral position is available in the group of Dr. Chris Schiering at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS). The LMS is a leading MRC-funded Institute affiliated with Imperial College London and provides investigators with a thriving research environment and state-of-the-art facilities to pursue innovative, multidisciplinary research. For more information, visit:

The Schiering lab studies the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR), a ligand-activated transcription factor capable of sensing environmental pollutants, dietary phytochemicals and microbiota metabolites. We are currently interested in the role of AHR in brown adipose tissue, which is considered an attractive therapeutic target for the treatment of obesity. Our aim is to utilize novel genetic tools to define the transcriptional targets of AHR as well as its protein interaction network in specific cell-types in health and disease.

This position provides the opportunity to undertake an ambitious project in a highly dynamic, scientifically stimulating and interactive research environment.

The candidate should have a PhD in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry (or be close to completing your PhD), a strong publication record (at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal, published or submitted), extensive expertise in molecular biology techniques and experience with design and analysis of ChIP-seq and proteomics experiments. Strong interest in obesity, adipose tissue biology and metabolism is desirable. Exceptional candidates with relevant experience in related disciplines will be considered.

Please note that if you have not yet been awarded your PhD, you will be appointed as a Research Assistant, with a starting salary of £34,040 per annum.
