Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Acting for Live and Recorded Performance

Falmouth University

Falmouth University is changing the way Higher Education is delivered. Our “doing-it-for-real” ethos means that we are planning for the needs of the future economy, ensuring our students and staff have the skills they need to stay relevant in a changing world. For more than 100 years, Falmouth has been at the forefront of using creative thinking as a force for positive economic impact in Cornwall and beyond. Today, our courses represent the entirety of the creative industries, from art and design to gaming and film, while our post-graduate programmes and research and innovation are aligned to defined market needs in high-growth sectors.

We are currently seeking to appoint a dynamic Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Acting for Live and Recorded Performance. The post-holder will be responsible to the Subject Head of Theatre & Dance.

The successful candidate will have substantial knowledge and experience of current industry practice and will be able to teach acting for stage and screen performance to a diverse group of students.  You will also be expected to create and deliver core curriculum content in the field of recorded media and contextual studies and to direct recorded media projects within a practical performance training context.

Our proximity to the School of Film & Television including Animation and the Digital Games Academy allows us to provide enhanced technology opportunities for our actors in training, utilising the many facilities available, including Green Screen and Motion Capture. We are looking for a person who will be able to maximise these opportunities, develop their own practice, and contribute to the design of new initiatives in live performance and recorded media training for performers.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and a sound understanding of contemporary actor training. You will contribute to the development of collaborative relationships with our existing industry partners and be proactive in the development of new contacts.  An ability to lead and direct live theatre projects would be an advantage as would an established research portfolio.  Above all we are looking for a candidate with the passion and commitment to design and deliver an outstanding learning experience for the students in both live and recorded media.

You will be joining a talented and ambitious team of specialists who prioritise the student experience within an exciting and developing subject area that has access to outstanding facilities and resources.

We offer excellent facilities and benefits to our staff. These include generous holiday entitlements, relocation assistance, defined benefit pension scheme, childcare vouchers and training and development courses.
