The UCL Cancer Institute is one of the world’s top universities and a founding member of the Crick Institute. UCL Cancer Institute draws together over 300 scientists working together to develop world-class basic and translational cancer research.

The UCL Cancer Institute is seeking to appoint a full-time Buildings Manager. The post will form part of the following three Divisions/Institutes within the UCL Faculty of Medical Sciences: the UCL Cancer institute, the UCL Division of Medicine, the Division of Infection & Immunity.

Duties and responsibilities of the post holder include but are not limited to: acting as the interface and conduit for information transfer relating to building maintenance and operations between the building service providers and the research Institutes; ensuring provision of some specialist & safety related equipment repairs and maintenance service contracts; responsibility for accommodation/facilities planning and strategy.

The successful candidate must have a degree in Science, preferably with a higher degree which has incorporated working in a research laboratory, and a substantial level of experience of working in a research laboratory. The post-holder must have experience of buildings management, managing space, a team of staff and a demonstrable success in problem solving. Understanding the implications of complying/not complying with health and safety and best practice and of procurement procedures is essential, as is ability to prepare clear, concise training materials, protocols and policy documents.
