Postdoctoral Research Engineer

Applications are invited for a full-time postdoctoral research engineer at Vision Semantics Ltd.

The successful candidate will work with a team of software developer to develop and evaluate a video analytic system which takes both imagery and video data and perform intelligent analysis on object detection and recognition for surveillance and business intelligence applications. In particular, the work will involve researching, testing and evaluating deep learning computer vision algorithms for pedestrian and vehicle recognition in smart city applications. This work is partially funded by an InnovateUK Industrial Challenge Project on Developing and Commercialising Intelligent Video Analytics Solutions. Strong programming skills are required including Caffe, Tensorflow, C++, Python, Linux, with a minimum PhD degree in computer vision and demonstrable strong programming experience. Relevant experience in the state-of-the-art computer vision algorithm evaluation and testing is a strong advantage.

The post is for 18 months starting from 1st July 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter, with a possibility of extension. Starting salary will be £36,000 per annum.

Should candidates not be normally resident in the UK they must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1999.

The successful candidate will be working in the Vision Semantics Ltd (VSL) located at the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, Queen Mary University of London. VSL is a Queen Mary spin-out company specialising in video content analysis for public safety and security applications (http://www.visionsemantics.com/).
