Do you have a strong background in chemistry or engineering with an experience in electrochemical energy devices? Are you ready to join a world-leading research group with state-of-the-art facilities?

We are looking for a Research Fellow with a background in electrochemistry, battery chemistry and materials characterisation.

Using the resources of our Energy Innovation Centre (EIC), you will be responsible for aiding the development of a new battery. This will include electrode manufacture, cell manufacture and electrochemical and chemical testing and characterisation. The EIC includes a battery pilot line facility able to manufacture a range of lithium ion chemistries such as pouch cells. The function of the EIC is to allow manufacturing, characterisation, testing of energy storage at the system level. The pilot line facility is unique within the UK and will allow manufacturing and scientific challenges such as improving energy density, power density, cost, functional safety, reliability and improving lifetime to be addressed for the benefit of industry.

You should have experience of working within multi-person scientific projects and delivering results to time and budget. You would ideally have hands on experience of working with electrochemical test equipment and experience of battery and electrochemical cells is preferred, but prior experience in other fields will be considered.

In addition to this, you will possess a good honours degree or equivalent in chemistry, materials science, engineering or another relevant discipline and doctorate level qualification in a relevant research field.
