Finance Coordinator

University of Cambridge - Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages

A vacancy has arisen for a Finance Coordinator at the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages as a result of the retirement of the current post holder. This is a particularly exciting time to join the Faculty as we work to embed a new governance structure involving the dissolution of the former Departments and increasing consolidation of administrative functions, including finance, at Faculty level.

The successful candidate will be required to work between 30 and 36.5 hours per week to be arranged with the Faculty Administrator on appointment (a minimum of 80% of Full Time Employed).

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of all aspects of the accounting and financial procedures for the Faculty including, but not limited to, managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and procurement, monitoring expenditure on budgets, reporting on research grants, raising and responding to financial queries from stakeholders, completing month/year end processes and undertaking other such duties commensurate with the grade of the post.

You will be educated to A level with GCSE English and Maths, Grade C or above, and hold a Finance/Accounting AAT qualification or significant experience of working in financial administration. You must have experience of using computerised accounting systems, ideally with Oracle financials and/or the Cambridge University Financial System (CUFS).

You will be highly numerate, analytical and proficient in standard software packages, particularly Excel. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also essential, including the ability to explain financial regulations and procedures effectively to non ¿finance staff, displaying tact and diplomacy at all times.  You must be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, whilst paying attention to detail and achieving high levels of accuracy. You will also be required to work on your own initiative within the scope of your role.
