Laboratory Technician - 23 hours per week

The Department of Clinical Sciences and Nutrition wish to appoint a laboratory technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support for all projects running in the clinical and tissue laboratories. This would include overseeing day to day operations, maintaining supplies, servicing equipment, developing new protocols and providing support and guidance for students and staff using the laboratories.

The Department of Clinical Sciences and Nutrition is a leading provider of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Human Nutrition, Dietetics, Exercise and Nutrition Science, Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation, and Obesity and Weight Management. Many of our programmes are professionally accredited by the Association for Nutrition and the British Dietetic Association.

The successful candidate will have significant experience, and be proficient in biomedical/biochemical/cell biology techniques, particularly, ELISA and tissue/cell culture. Phlebotomy skills are desirable but you will be expected to undertake phlebotomy training as part of the role. A postgraduate degree in a biological discipline (eg. biomedical science, biochemistry, biological sciences) is also desirable.
