Two research positions are available to work on 5G Rural Integrated Testbed (5GRIT), an exciting new 5G testbed project funded by the UK Government. 5GRIT will be trialling 5G technology for use across a range of rural applications, such as smart agriculture, tourism and connecting poorly-served communities, using shared spectrum in the TV bands and a mix of local ISPs and self-provision.
We invite applications from enthusiastic individuals who have a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. You must be able to demonstrate a research background in the area of computer communications / networking. Familiarity with 5G and/or networking monitoring technologies will put you at an advantage. We will also value highly your ability to learn rapidly and to adapt to new technologies beyond your current skills and expertise. The role will require you to engage with external stakeholders including industry, and to support the technical coordination of activities between project partners; therefore effective interpersonal skills and experience of working collaboratively are essential attributes.
