REF Administrative and Digital Content Officer

University of Oxford - Research Services

Grade 5

Applications are invited for the above role within the (central) university-level REF team. The scope of activity within the team covers a wide range of research-related matters and we work with a significant number of other teams in the University, so this is an interesting and varied job.

The aim of the REF is to “secure the continuation of a world-class, dynamic and responsive research base across the full academic spectrum within UK higher education” by assessing the quality of research outputs, their impact beyond academia, and the environment that supports research. The REF is a highly-regarded and prestigious exercise, and a strong submission is critical both to academics’ careers and to the funding underpinning research. In this interesting new position you will support the central REF team and colleagues from across the University who are working on delivering a successful submission to the next Research Excellence Framework exercise (REF 2021), due in autumn 2020.

You will have demonstrable enthusiasm for organisation and efficiency, will communicate effectively with colleagues and customers by: responding to specialist queries, making skilful use of the IT systems used for REF at Oxford, helping with committee papers, managing digital content and supporting REF communications in Oxford. You will also be expected to manage discrete projects within the REF portfolio, including running REF-related events in Oxford.

Ideally we would like the postholder to be full-time, however consideration will be given for requests to include part-time or flexible working arrangements up to 0.8FTE.
