Assistant Librarian (Subscriptions and Copyright Licensing)

Location: London College of Communication - Elephant and Castle 

University of the Arts London requires an Assistant Librarian to support print and e-subscriptions relating to serials, and to assist with copyright compliance for the university.

Working closely with LAS colleagues especially the Discovery Manager (Resources & Communications), the Resources & Systems Manager and the Finance team, you will support, and be supported by, a small team of Library Assistants in relation to serials work. Your remit will include but not be limited to:

  • Assisting with the management, maintenance and promotion of print and e-subscriptions to serials and other resources.
  • Managing information related to the licensing of resources.
  • Maintaining and monitoring a log of the copyright notices to inform the CLA annual return and compiling and completing the CLA annual return manually or through the Digital Content Store.
  • Delivering training sessions for Library Services and other staff as required, and maintaining materials to communicate and promote the use of serials and the CLA licence.
  • Administering budgets, monitoring expenditure, and providing reports as requested. 
  • Liaising with our serials supplier (currently LM), serials publishers and copyright contacts, via phone and email. 
  • Acting as the first point of contact for serials and copyright compliance queries, as well as answering general enquiries.

Your profile 

The ideal candidate will have worked with serials, have experience of subscription resources and an awareness of copyright compliance issues. Budget management experience is desirable.

You will need to be highly organised, with good attention to detail and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Excellent communication skills, and the ability to express yourself clearly and confidently in writing, face to face, by phone or by email is essential. You should be able to work independently, but are equally comfortable working as part of a team.
