The role

The Institute for Communication Systems Research (ICS) is looking to recruit a O-RAN R&D Software Engineer. This exciting role will be responsible for the software development of O-RAN radio access network at the 5G>>6G Innovation Centre, the post holder will design and develop the 5G O-RAN network functions and protocols software from 3GPP and O-RAN Alliance specifications and to debug and unit test the developed code as well as to maintain periodic release updates according to 3GPP/O-RAN release updates.

ICS is the largest academic research institute in Europe specialising on all aspects of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies). It is home to over 200 researchers with expertise in all communication and broadcasting systems and has developed the best in class large scale testbeds for research and innovation and enjoys the state of the art lab and computing facilities.

5G/6GIC established in 2012, is the world’s first dedicated centre in researching end-to-end aspects of 5G and works closely with national and international leading academic institutes and key industrial partners.

About you

Applicants must have:

  • Relevant degree (in Electronics Engineering or Computer Science)
  • Linux IP Networking (IPv4/IPv6), TCP/UDP, Socket Programming
  • Operating Systems concepts (e.g. Linux) and Multithreaded Programming
  • Excellent coding skills (Object Oriented and non) in Linux platform (C/C++)
