About us

In the past decade over 25% of EU clinical trial applications have originated from the UK, which ranks first or among the leading European nations for the number of early clinical trials each year. The Centre for Pharmaceutical Medicine Research (CPRM), based in the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science at King’s College London, draws on this experience to provide excellent research and education in the development of medicines. The Centre has some notable achievements:

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Fellow in Medicines Development. They must be able to contribute to the excellent education in CPMR and across the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science. We require a skilled educator to teach postgraduate students in the field of medicines development and embed within the existing teaching and research structure at King’s College London.

The applicant must aspire to generate world-class research outputs in a field aligned to the development of medicines for human use with research in the fields of pharmacokinetics, clinical pharmacology, biomarkers, human toxicology, drug safety, pharmacoepidemiology, and clinical research being particularly favoured.  This should be evidenced by a publication track record that includes world leading or internationally excellent work. The applicant should have a strong, fundable research theme that would fit in with the School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences and have obvious potential for collaboration with researchers within the School, the Faculty, the UK and internationally.

The applicant must be able to demonstrate knowledge and practice of teaching students in higher education and be capable of leading higher education teaching delivery, administration, and assessment of students. Some experience of curriculum design is desirable. The applicant must be able to supervise postgraduate research projects.

This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for one year until 31st August 2025

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • A PhD in a suitable field aligned to medicines development
  • A sound (theoretical and practical) knowledge of an area of medicines development
  • Engagement in research of outstanding quality
  • Knowledge of the Pharmaceutical industry
  • Teaching experience
  • Supervision of research projects
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent team work skills

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of the commercial medicines development process
  • Good quality research publications
  • Evidence of contribution to teaching curriculum design
