The opportunity
University of the Arts London (UAL) is looking for a highly skilled and experienced academic practitioner to join our BA Fashion Design and Development course as an Acting Course Leader.
As a Course Leader you will lead one of the five specialist courses in our cluster of industry-focused design disciplines where form and function meet. Students on this course are encouraged to adopt a broad approach to the constantly evolving fashion industry landscape and you will be instrumental in helping them make that happen.
You will be responsible for the academic leadership and day-to-day management of the Course, including the maintenance and enhancement of standards and responsibility for the design, development and delivery of the curriculum. You will also oversee all areas of teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring that students are given constructive and timely feedback that helps them to thrive.
About you
You will possess a degree in a relevant subject area and will demonstrate an awareness of the regulatory framework for HE academic awards and quality standards. You will also provide teaching and learning experience and/or equivalent industry experience in fashion, along with experience of utilising specialist fabrics and relevant industry practices in materials or pattern cutting innovation.
You will need to have an in-depth understanding and personal experience of teaching and facilitating creative practices in the fashion design discipline. Both design and technical pattern cutting skills and expertise are desirable.
