Applications are sought for the position of Senior Rotordynamicist within the MAS research group at the University of Nottingham. The group has several funded research projects investigating aspects of the dynamics of rotating machines or requiring a command of rotordynamics to support the development of these machines. This post will focus on undertaking design and experimentation on test rigs, including complex rotating mechanical rigs which are controlled by electrical machines and actuators. 

The MAS research group have an excellent international reputation for high quality theoretical and experimental research funded by EU, EPSRC, BEIS, Innovate-UK and directly with industry. The group is full of highly motivated and capable teams who are dedicated to answering research questions. The faculty of engineering is dedicated to equality, diversity, and inclusion; it was awarded engineering department in the UK to be awarded an Athena Swan Gold award for advancing gender equality in higher education. The successful candidate will work with a variety of stakeholders, including internal customers, external customers, and engineering designers (both internal and external). It will be important to maintain these relationships whilst developing new connections. One of the main functions of the role will be to provide mechanical expertise to answer research questions. The role holder will need to work with these designers in developing test facilities.  

This role is fixed term until 31st December 2025. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).
