Salary: £59,421 to £73,043 per annum
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior management role within the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration North West Coast. The research and implementation support infrastructure has over 60 member organisations in health and social care, universities, local authorities, 3rd sector and charities working together to develop and deliver applied health and social care research with the potential to reduce health inequalities. The postholder will line manage ARC staff within the department but also liaise closely with the line managers of teams in the Universities of Lancaster and Central Lancashire as well as our public advisor and member organisation fora.

Our work embeds equity, co-production, public and community involvement. This post is deputy to the Director and leads the management of the ARC, assisting the Director (Prof Gabbay) in the strategic development and delivery of the ARC programme. We are anticipating leading together the bid for the next ARC from 2026 for a further 7 years, and it is intended this postholder will have a key role in that grant development and delivery if awarded. As well as leveraging in excess of £50m external grant directly or as a collaborator, the ARC has also delivered a portfolio of almost 400 publications since 2019. The postholder will also liaise with their equivalents across the other 14 ARCs in England, in areas for collaboration, co-development and coordination. The ARC is also among a select group of Research Centres within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences in the University of Liverpool.

The current ARC is funded until the end of March 2026, but an application for further enhanced funding until end March 2034 is expected to be submitted later in 2024. This post is ideal for an experienced senior manager in health research and infrastructures ambitions to take senior leadership role in a complex but exciting organisation making a real difference in close partnership with diverse populations and organisations. The post holder will have line management, data collation, analysis, reporting and budget roles and an opportunity to lead and participate in internal evaluations leading to publications.

Although the university has a hybrid working system, the expectation is that the successful applicant appointed to this role will be expected to work more than 50% on campus.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week.

Degree, relevant masters or equivalent experience, is required for this role.
