Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Stephen Fletcher on a research project funded by the ERC for an initial period of 1 year. The project involves exploration of the chemical reaction networks that may be relevant to the origins of life. Find out more about Fletcher research group at:

You should have a PhD in chemistry or a relevant subject area, or have submitted your thesis prior to taking up your appointment. You should be able to work at the border of organic and physical chemistry or be willing to learn new techniques in systems chemistry and physical chemistry.

The role will include the development of novel reaction systems, their analysis via standard characterisation methods (NMR, LC, MS, optical techniques, etc) and collaboration with leading groups developing novel characterisation methods including microfluidics and microscopy.

The post is available from 1 September 2017 and will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA.
