Assistant Professor in East Asian Politics

Supervising PhDs and leading research groups, your enthusiasm for this fascinating topic will instil a passion for lifelong learning amongst our vibrant student body. You will undertake your own research studies in politics since 1945 across the East Asian and South East Asian region and benefit from periods of research leave and associated research allowance support. 

You’ll need: 

  • Research excellence in the field of East Asian politics, supported by high quality outputs.
  • A well-considered three-year research plan that has the scope to make an impact on an international level, with appropriate research funding opportunities.
  • The confidence to lead research. If you also have experience of supervising PhD students, that would be an added bonus.
  • Evidence of high quality teaching methods, with HEA fellowship or the willingness to achieve this status.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to work well with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Good leadership capabilities.

Candidates who have recently completed their PhD but don’t have the relevant experience are encouraged to apply for this position at grade 7 if they feel they have the potential to achieve our high standards.
