The School of Healthcare Science has over 20 years’ experience delivering high quality healthcare science programmes and providing excellent teaching and student support with strong links to hospitals, the NHS and clinical partners. Our degree programmes are accredited by professional bodies including the Institute for Biomedical Science, the Health and Care Professions Council and the General Dental Council. Facilities in the School are excellent, with high specification teaching and research laboratories for specialist areas such as blood biochemistry, biomechanics, motor control, exercise performance, cell and molecular biology and tissue culture. We also have a brand new clinical skills laboratory and a pioneering point-of-care testing facility.

The School of Healthcare Science is one of the largest in the University attracting large numbers of students (1400 enrolments per annum) on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. At undergraduate level, we offer degrees in Biomedical Science, Healthcare Science (Physiological Sciences), Healthcare Science (Life Sciences), Dental Technology, Human Biology and Physiology (Physical Activity and Health). There are taught Masters programmes in Biomedical Science and Clinical Science. The School resides within the Faculty of Science and Engineering and benefits from spacious, modern and well-equipped teaching and research facilities having benefitted from recent significant and on-going investment.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated individual in the area of Haematology/ Transfusion Science who is committed to providing an excellent learning experience for students in the School and will further enhance our reputation for research of the highest quality.

You will have a first degree and higher degree in Haematology/Transfusion Science (or a closely related subject) and research interests and expertise aligned to our Cardiovascular research group. We would be particularly keen to receive applications from candidates with a background in Clinical Haematology or Transfusion Science. You will contribute to commercial/research income generation, undertake research/scholarly activity and the development of new areas in the relevant subject field.

This is a full time permanent role.
