Edinburgh Napier Business School

The University has set an ambitious strategy to be the home of difference makers with the aim of delivering excellence through our academic work for the benefit of our students, staff and collaborators. The university continues with this ambitious strategy, achieving success, with external recognition making us top modern university in Scotland (The Times and The Sunday Times) and climbing six places in the Good University Guide 2022.

Student experience is an essential component of who we are at Edinburgh Napier, and we are proud that we continue to improve and are now ninth in Scotland and 57th in the UK, in this year's National Student Survey (NSS). The impact of our research continues to grow and our phenomenal results from the Research Excellence Framework (2021) are testament to our growing strength and capability as a research institution. These results, alongside our consistently positive National Student Survey results and sustained high levels of graduate employability, demonstrate the increasing impact of Edinburgh Napier's collective work, quality and commitment.

REF 2021 assessed 68% of our research as either “world-leading” or “internationally excellent”, up 15% since 2014. Additionally, the University’s research power metric rocketed making Edinburgh Napier the top ranking Scottish modern university for both research power and research impact.

The University’s improved power rating will now see our research funding increase as we take significant strides to grow our reputation as a research-focused institution as well as a teaching one. Through continuous investment in staff and our research environment, we are confident that we are well on our way to establishing ourselves as one of the UK’s world-leading universities in research.

Edinburgh Napier is an ambitious university.

The Business School

As one of the largest business schools in Scotland, we equip students for every aspect of business, with career-focused courses covering subjects including accounting, financial services, law, management, marketing, languages, tourism, hospitality and festival and event management.

Our ethos is empowerment, enterprise and employability for all, and a ‘focus on practice’ is at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on having academic staff who bring their extensive knowledge of research and knowledge exchange as well as hands-on sector experience to the classroom.

Our close connections with industry are further strengthened through our established links with professional bodies including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA).

We are committed to internationalisation and deliver degrees with TNE partners in China, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Over the course of the past 25 years, we have developed our international presence and activities to the point where more than 3,500 students now study on our programmes overseas. We are also currently working towards AACSB accreditation.

Our home is the Craiglockhart campus. Beautifully merging the old with the new, the iconic Lindsay Stewart lecture theatre, known fondly as ‘The Egg’, sits comfortably alongside the original building with Wester Craiglockhart Hill as a backdrop. The Craiglockhart campus is also home to ENU’s Bright Red Triangle business incubator and Bright Red Ventures consultancy.
