Research Fellowships – Queen’s Communities and Place

Queen’s Communities and Place is at the heart of QUB’s civic mission and an important institutional driver and delivery vehicle for the University's commitment to Civic and Social Responsibility. We are expanding our team and are looking for seven research fellows and four professional services staff to join the vibrant team delivering innovative and co-produced research with communities and a wide range of stakeholders.

QCAP brings together leading academics across QUB to support communities through research, engagement and impact.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the work of QCAP, bringing together interdisciplinary academic expertise with community knowledge, using rigorous evidence-based methods and tailored support to tackle local challenges. Through co-produced multi-layered programmes spanning Community Health and Wellbeing (CHWB), Education, Skills & Inclusive Innovation (ESII), and Social Economy and Community Wealth Building (SECW).

Successful candidates will be part of the delivery team of two large scale, externally funded initiatives joining the QCAP portfolio.

QCAP is the Northern Ireland partner of the newly established Centre for Collaboration in Community Connectedness (C4). This ambitious new UK wide ESRC funded centre brings together partners from across the UK in research, community, policy and civil society to develop and scale up successful community leadership approaches.

C4 will find and share the most effective community action strategies, providing invaluable insights for both local and national policymaking, to help create equal opportunities wherever people live.

This centre is supported by UKRI through its creating opportunities, improving outcomes theme, one of five UKRI-wide initiatives aiming to harness the full power of the UK’s research and innovation system to tackle large-scale, complex challenges. Through a five-year strategy, ‘Transforming Tomorrow Together’, UKRI aims to harness the full power of the UK’s research and innovation system to tackle large-scale, complex challenges. To do this, UKRI is investing £185 million in five strategic themes which will continue tackling existential threats to humanity by encouraging new ways of working across disciplines.
