We’re Manchester Met proud – ambitious, innovative, and collaborative, using our world-class facilities and diverse expertise to be a force for good.
Our research community is growing stronger every year, with increased support and investment enabling our teams to tackle ambitious projects and make real-world impact.
Research funding has grown by 50% in just three years. And we’ve achieved a new ‘best’ with research awards of almost £30m last year, so we can keep making a difference. Recent highlights include:
- £3.8m from AHRC for the Robotics Living Lab
- £1m from the MRC for Parkinson’s research

Through partnerships with communities, businesses, industry and other institutions, we’re tackling the grand challenges of our time.
Our research is focused on five life-changing missions:
- Tackling inequalities – Building cohesive communities and helping shape a more caring, just and inclusive society: locally, national and globally.
- Championing creative excellence – Harnessing imagination to drive creativity, bringing architecture, art, design, fashion, media and performance together.
- Leading sustainability – Driving innovative solutions for a greener and more sustainable future through advances in science and engineering, practice and policy.
- Transforming health – Enabling people to start well, live well and age well with innovative research and transformative healthcare.
- Driving economic growth – Advancing skills, knowledge and digital technology to build inclusive and sustainable economic growth and innovation, shaped by industry.
