China-UK Low Carbon College, Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is one of the most prestigious universities in China. According to the 2018 QS World University Rankings, SJTU is ranked 62th globally.

The China-UK Low Carbon College (LCC) was established by SJTU in May 2017 and is the first college in China which pioneers in low-carbon research and education. Currently, LCC has two full-time Master Programmes in Low Carbon Environment and Low Carbon Energy. It has established partnerships with top universities including the University of Edinburgh (UoE) and University College London (UCL). Meanwhile, LCC is actively seeking collaboration opportunities with other world-class universities. It aims to establish a training base for interdisciplinary and practical talents in the field of low-carbon industry and carbon finance.

LCC is located at Lingang Industrial Area of Pudong which is known as the low-carbon practice base of Shanghai. Lingang Area is an important carrier for realizing the regional function of shanghai as a global economic center, financial center, trading center, international shipping center, and influential technology innovation center. The flexible policies at Lingang attract domestic and international investments, advanced technology and management expertise.

LCC has an independent courtyard with two buildings of more than 20000 square meters in Lingang. LCC has a range of facilities available for staff and students to use. This includes labs, libraries, caf├ęs, a gym, event venues, etc.

LCC is going to establish seven research centers, which are Research Center for Carbon Finance and Carbon Management, Smart Energy Research Center, Research Center for Sustainable Energy and Energy Storage, Research Center for Low Carbon Combustion and Engine System, Research Center for Carbon Capture, Storage & Utilization, Research Center for Circular Economy and Waste Resource Utilization, and Research Center for Low Carbon Design and Manufacture. Faculty members are expected to take an active part in the establishment of these research centers and labs.
