Fully Funded M2A MSc by Research Scholarship: Solar PV Microinverter-Tracker

Simyu Technology has planned series of the products, solutions those will reduce capital cost of renewable energy systems and make them more efficient. As a part of this, Simyu Technology aims to bring efficient grid tied microinverter to the international market.

Microinverter will be used to feed back the power generated from Solar PV (or any other renewable source) to the grid and local loads. Microinverter offers advantage of long life, higher efficiency, and easy installation. This product will also have a tracker function which will be developed separately and integrated later. This will bring down the cost of installation and provide more power for the invested amount.

Project Aims:

  1. Design 500 W grid tie solar PV microinverter using best topology to keep cost low & efficiency high.
  2. Modules: DC-DC boost & MPPT Controller; Grid Synchronization: Using PLL or any other technology; Inverter with current controller to feed back to the grid; Safety features & indicators (Islanding, range protections).
  3. Implementation under hardware simulator.
  4. Implementation of Hardware and software design for these functions.


Candidates should hold an Engineering or Physical Sciences degree with a minimum classification level of 2:1 or equivalent relevant experience.

This project is suitable for candidates with Electronics / Electrical Engineering background. Knowledge of TI DSP such as TMS320F28335 will be advantageous.
