Senior Research Associate

University of East Anglia - School of Chemistry

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Research Associate to undertake research in ultrafast photophysics on molecular and protein photoswitches in the Ultrafast Spectroscopy Laboratory in the School of Chemistry at the University of East Anglia. The project is funded through an EPSRC Research Grant.

The key aim is to characterise excited state dynamics through ultrafast electronic (transient absorption and ultrafast fluorescence) and vibrational (FSRS) spectroscopy.

The successful applicant will be involved in the day to day running of the ultrafast laboratory, and in the collection and analysis of experimental data for publication. They will also engage in a range of international collaborations which support the project.

Essential requirements for this post include a PhD (or equivalent qualification) in Physical Chemistry, Physics, or other related discipline; experience in the construction, design, and application of ultrafast laser experiments; and significant previous experience of independent research. Candidates will also be expected to meet all the essential criteria in the person specification.

This full-time post will be available from 1 September 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter, for fixed-term period of 36 months.

Closing date: 6 July 2018.
