Head of Operations, NHS Digital Academy (NHSDA)

Imperial College London - Centre for Health Policy, Institute of Global Health Innovation, Faculty of Medicine

St Mary’s Campus

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced manager to lead the operations and continuous improvement of the NHS Digital Academy and of the educational offering of the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London. The primary purpose of this role will be to ensure the success, impact, sustainability and growth of the Academy.

The NHS Digital Academy is a virtual organisation that will offer the first national learning programme in change management, leadership and clinical informatics to digital leaders in the NHS. The programme is targeted at training 300 health informatics professionals working in the NHS, over the course of 3 years. Its purpose is to accelerate the digital transformation of the NHS by developing strong digital leaders who can deliver change so that patient care, and the way that organisations operate, can benefit from the many improvements and innovations modern technology has to offer.

The NHS Digital Academy combines practical NHS expertise with academic rigour to deliver a unique and ambitious learning experience. Led by Imperial College London’s Institute of Global Health Innovation, the consortium also includes the University of Edinburgh with international strategic input from Harvard Medical School. Our design consortium unites NHS experts with world-class clinicians, researchers and digital specialists with unrivalled expertise in blended learning, health informatics and data science, leadership development and healthcare transformation.

Delivered predominantly online, the programme supports participants to immediately apply what they learn by carrying out a transformative change project within their organisation in parallel with taught modules. Over the 52-week programme, participants will also come together in person — across England both centrally and regionally — to share best practice and form supportive relationships.

You will lead a very high-profile programme that is of critical importance to the future of the NHS and you will drive the development of the educational offering of a leading research institute.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of success in managing complex programmes, and the ability to lead a team of teaching fellows and administrators and to coordinate a large group of academics.

The successful applicant will be educated to postgraduate degree level and should have experience working both in education and in healthcare management or policy.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of an internationally acclaimed team and help shape the development of this innovative programme. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

This is a full time, fixed term appointment for 12 months. .
