The Royal College of Emergency Medicine was established in 2008 by Royal Charter as a charitable body and works to ensure high quality care for patients by setting and monitoring standards of care in emergency departments, as well as providing expert guidance and advice on policy to relevant bodies on matters relating to Emergency Medicine. The College now numbers over 7,500 Fellows and Members registered internationally and works to represent both its members and the interests of patients.
The College aims to advance education and research in Emergency Medicine. It is responsible for setting standards of training and administering examinations in Emergency Medicine for the award of Fellowship and Membership of the College, as well as recommending trainees for CCT in Emergency Medicine.
Over the next two years the College will be redesigning and implementing the new curriculum for Emergency Medicine to meet the General Medical Council’s revised standards for postgraduate medical curricula, Excellence by Design. The project is led by the Chair of the Curriculum Sub-Committee and this role will support the Chair and colleagues in the Training and Examinations Departments in delivering a quality assured curriculum and assessment system that is fit for purpose and meets regulatory requirements.
The Curriculum Project Manager will be a pivotal role providing project oversight for the Curriculum 2020 Project. The successful applicant will therefore be someone who is seeking new challenges whilst utilising their knowledge and previous experience, who can help develop and deliver the College’s strategic aims and think creatively with a hands-on, proactive attitude.
Emergency Medicine is often described as a ‘team sport’ and we look forward to welcoming a new member to the RCEM team.
