About The Role
We now have an excellent opportunity within our ISIS facility for a suitably qualified Electrical Engineer with an interest in Accelerator based magnet power systems and a desire to ensure that these systems operate to a high degree of reliability.
You will lead and line manage the teams responsible for operating and maintaining the accelerator power systems as well as the magnet operations, which is made up of the pulsed power, DC beamline, DC source and magnet operations sections.
You will be directly responsible for the operational reliability of the systems, ensuring compliance with the ISIS asset management system and implementation of predictive and reactive maintenance regimes.
You will be responsible for ensuring the operational skill base meets current and future requirements, as well as ensuring that the group remains within its operational budgets.
You will liaise with Scientists and Engineers across the organisation to assist with future power supply developments and replacements; communicate with external power supply manufacturers and take an active role in networking with other accelerator facilities both nationally and internationally to ensure best practice is employed.
You will also take part in specifying, tendering, evaluating and project managing of new power systems.
You will hold an HND or equivalent level qualification in an appropriate electrical engineering discipline.
You will display strong management and leadership skills, with experience in the management of a power supply operations teams.
Technically you will have knowledge/experience in the following areas:
You will have a focus on health and safety with particular reference to electrical safety and the IET wiring regulations, with experience in writing and reviewing electrical safety procedures, and the necessary skills and knowledge to be an electrically authorised person with the responsibility of assessing the competence of the staff with regards to appointing them as electrically nominated persons.
You will also display excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills.
