Therefore this is an exciting opportunity to lead the School of Sport, Health and Social Sciences as it moves into a period of expansion and development. You will have primary responsibility to ensure an outstanding student experience and academic reputation. Supported by a strong senior management team and a recent programme of investment including biomedical science and nursing specialist spaces and a new £28 million Sports Complex due to complete in 2019. You will lead curriculum development and research plans and further enhance the School’s excellent reputation across the areas of Sport, Health and Social Sciences. You will continue to undertake research, practice or pedagogical activity consistent with your area of expertise. A professorial title is available for those who meet our criteria.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience of senior management and commitment to social justice, widening participation and applied research. With approximately 2000 students and apprentices and 80 academic staff plus associate lecturers the School’s academic profile spans sport, psychology, health and social care, nursing, biomedical science and social work with courses at foundation, undergraduate and post graduate levels alongside a suite of professional development programmes. You will be able to engage at a senior level with outside agencies, including the NHS, HE partners, sport organisations and professional bodies to ensure continued accreditation, in particular with the NMC after becoming an AEI in 2018. You will have experience of working across a range of academic subject areas. Also important is the ability to influence others and to work positively with academic and professional service colleagues to deliver successful academic programmes, an excellent student experience and employable graduates.
