Applications are invited for Hintze Fellowship. The posts are available for a fixed-term duration of 2 years with the possibility of extension for 1 year. The posts are available full-time, part-time or flexible working.

The three fellowships available are part of the Hintze Centre for Astrophysical Surveys, funded through the Hintze Family Charitable Foundation based in the Astrophysics Physics department in the Department of Physics. The Centre is focused on the exploitation of current surveys to build a platform for Oxford participation in LSST, Euclid, SKA and the EELT.

We are seeking three fellows with research interests in respectively, cosmology, galaxy evolution and astrophysical transients. The fellows will be encouraged to develop a personal research programme that overlaps with the current interests of Oxford Astrophysics. The fellowships are available from October 2019, for 2 years in the first instance, with the possibility of an extension for 1 year.

Successful candidates will hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in relevant area of astronomy or astrophysics. Candidates should demonstrate a capacity for independent work and be capable of initiating research in a lively group. They will have the opportunity to teach and may benefit from a college association.

Previous experience in the field of observational cosmology/galaxy evolution/astrophysical transient studies will be an advantage.

Fellows will be expected to collaborate with faculty members in the Astrophysics sub-department in areas of common interest.

The postholders will have the opportunity to teach.
