Scholarship and Bursary Awards

Financial support for PGCE Secondary trainee teachers is available. You could get a £26,000 tax-free bursary while you train, or be awarded a prestigious scholarship worth £28,000. Your eligibility for financial support, and the amount you can expect to receive, will depend on the Secondary Science subject you choose to teach and your degree classification or highest relevant academic qualification. With or without a bursary or scholarship, you could receive a tuition fee loan and maintenance loan to help fund your teacher training year.

We offer both School Direct and Provider-led routes.

Our PGCE courses are offered with Master’s credits, which means that as well as graduating with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England and Wales, you will gain credits towards a Master’s degree. At UEA you will gain 90 Master’s credits, which is the equivalent of half a Master’s degree, providing a strong foundation for the rest of your teaching career.
