An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified, motivated and enthusiastic Technical Specialist to support the application and delivery of commercial technical projects within the general area of Imaging and Material Science. You will liaise with the Business Development Manager and academic specialists to support the successful specification and delivery of work to industrial clients. You will be part of a team of research technicians reporting to the Technical Team Leader for Research.  This hands-on role will suit your well-developed technical skills and practical scientific background, as well as your excellent communication skills and willingness to engage with customer enquiries. Familiarity with Health and Safety procedures within a laboratory environment are essential. A range of opportunities for career development will be available.

Duties will include liaising with external customers and academic researchers in the specification and delivery of projects utilising a range of equipment and facilities within the area of imaging, materials processing and analysis. This may include techniques such as MRI, electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, thin film technology, laser processing and RF magnetron sputtering.  An understanding of the use of high end equipment is essential along with an appreciation of the maintenance and servicing schedules.

You will possess a good standard of general and technical education to NVQ Level 3, City and Guilds level 3, A levels, ONC/OND or equivalent plus extensive practical experience in imaging or material processing and analysis obtained in a HE environment or similar.  It is desirable that you hold a relevant degree or are a registered Scientist or Science Technician (RSciTech).
