To strengthen our team, we are looking for a:

Senior Lecturer starting from the 2019/2020 academic year

for Elemental Music and Dance/Movement Pedagogy (part-time, limited-term with option of permanent employment) in the Department of Music and Dance Pedagogy – Orff Institute

Number: 1752/1-2018

The initial employment contract as Senior Lecturer will be limited to two years at 50 percent of full-time employment at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, with the option of permanent employment. The number of contracted hours may increase due teaching requirements. Remuneration shall be based on salary group B1 of the collective agreement for university employees and shall amount to at least €1,397.30 gross per month. The monthly gross salary may possibly increase on the basis of the provisions of the collective agreement by taking into account previous experience relevant to the duties.

The duties include the following:

  • Teaching in the subjects of music and dance pedagogy with a specialised focus on music and/or dance in the context of social diversity.
  • Designing artistic-pedagogical projects, as well as supervising didactic internships and teaching practice for students in various target groups.
  • Collaborating on the content and organisation of symposia, conferences, meetings, and publications of the Department of Music and Dance Education – Orff Institute of the Mozarteum University Salzburg.
  • Supervising academic and practical theses.
  • Taking on organisational and administrative responsibilities, as well as participating in evaluation activities in the Department of Music and Dance Pedagogy – Orff Institute of the Mozarteum University Salzburg. 

What we are looking for in an applicant: 

  • Good teamwork skills and a strong interest in working with students and relevant groups.
  • Proof of relevant Master's degree or equivalent completed in Austria or abroad.
  • Proven teaching experience working with different target groups and age groups in the field of "music and/or movement/dance" in different social and artistic pedagogical fields: e.g. in schools and non-school institutions, with people with special needs, mixed-ability groups, in inclusive or social work, and/or with people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • The ability to combine theory and practice and to impart academic and pedagogical competence. This is a prerequisite for a successful application. It is desirable to engage with approaches to social diversity in current theoretical and practical concepts in areas of study.
  • Good command of written and spoken German and English.
