Jilin Normal University (JLNU) invites applications for short-term instructors to teach one or more undergraduate courses in Environmental Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (listed below) for 8 weeks in Spring semester 2019. Candidates will be working in Siping, Jilin Province, northeast China. 

Course List:

  1. Air Pollution Control Engineering – Topics include the performance, potential, and limitations of the major control processes-including fabric filtration, cyclones, electrostatic precipitation, wet and dry scrubbing, and condensation-as a basis for intelligent planning of abatement systems, flare processes, thermal oxidation, catalytic oxidation, gas-phase activated carbon adsorption, and gas-phase biofiltration.
  2. Water and Wastewater Engineering – The design and construction of municipal water and wastewater facilities. Contents include water treatment in detail, following the flow of water through the unit processes and coagulation, flocculation, softening, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, and residuals management. Each stage of wastewater treatment--preliminary, secondary, and tertiary--is examined along with residuals management.
  3. Introduction to Micro-controller - Application of digital and logic concepts to the study of micro-controller function and use. Topics include assembly language programming and hardware interface design for typical applications. Class 3. Lab 1.
  4. Advanced Programming Methods - This course explores numerical methods using advanced topics in computer programming. These topics may include design patterns, advanced graphical components, software component models, concepts and structures for high level programming, elements of structured programming, assignments in a microcomputer and network environments, numerical algorithms, solution of linear and nonlinear algebraic equations, numerical integration and differential equations, and applications in statistics, optimization, and finite-element analysis.
  5. Computer Aided Engineering Lab – Lab content: Apply advanced modeling techniques using Solidworks; 3D sketching; Weldments; Sheet Metal; Sweeps; Photoview; Spring Recess: FEA; Surfacing; Cores and Cavities; Motion Study; Top down Assembly, etc. 


  • Master's degree in related engineering field is required for undergraduate instruction.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Patient and enthusiastic for teaching with high sense of responsibility;
  • Ideally more than 3 years’ teaching or training experience is preferred;
  • Understanding American higher education system, test methods and requirements.
