Applications are invited for a Mechanical Workshop Senior Technician. The postholder will be required to meet the mechanical engineering needs of members of the Departments of Chemistry and Mechanical engineering. Duties will include the design, development and manufacture of complex novel scientific equipment, preparation of engineering drawings, recording and tabulating of test data.

The appointment is open ended and start date will be as soon as possible.

The successful candidate must have Engineering HND/HNC, Level 4 NVQ or recognised apprenticeship in a relevant subject area and have substantial relevant post qualification work experience, or substantial work experience in a relevant engineering discipline / technical role. Experience in instrument making, prototype engineering, and using a comprehensive range of workshop equipment is essential, as is an ability to work from engineering drawings as well as sketches and verbal instructions.
