The Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute supports cutting edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development and is one of the leading research institutes in Europe. The Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the-art core services and advanced technologies, with special emphasis on metabolomics, imaging, and in vivo models.
Our innovative and ambitious research themes focus on understanding the regulation of the tumour microenvironment and cancer metabolism, in particular:
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated researcher as a Senior Scientific Officer. You will be part of a growing research group of enthusiastic scientists studying the metabolism of cancer, in particular of brain and liver tumours.
You will establish and manage and study advanced murine models of cancer including intracranial glioma xenografts, and transgenic murine models. You will participate in collaborative research projects, contributing to their development experimentally and intellectually. In addition, you will be given the opportunity to lead a research project. The post includes hands-on in vivo and cell-based research, as well as lab-management tasks.
You will have a relevant degree or PhD, with a record of significant research experience using in vivo, cell-biology and molecular-biology techniques and good organisational skills. Previous experience in metabolism, brain tumour research and lab management is desirable but not essential.
