Why we need you

The Discovery Research team manage the organisation’s funding, support and development of pioneering research that underpins our fundamental understanding of cancer, as well as innovative research that has the potential to be translated for patient benefit. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative individual with a passion for science to help develop the discovery research portfolio, lead on strategic projects and work with diverse communities to accelerate progress against our Research Strategy.

What will I be doing?

Make an impact every day by:

  • Initiating and driving strategic projects and programmes of work
  • Building relationships with key senior stakeholders both internally and externally, acting as a senior scientific interface with the research community  
  • Overseeing and supporting the Science Committee and its Expert Review Panels, ensuring a high quality of scientific evaluation
  • Forming excellent internal working relationships and providing senior leadership credibility

What skills are you looking for?

You’ll be able to bring to the role:

  • Extensive experience of supporting scientific programmes and exposure to strategic projects, preferably within a biomedical research organisation
  • Demonstrable experience of project and/or programme management
  • Line management experience
  • PhD in a biomedical science, preferably cancer-related
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate and develop relationships with senior stakeholders
