One full-time clinical research fellow is required to join a highly productive research team, working under the supervision of Dr Alastair Webb and Professor Peter Rothwell. The post will involve clinical research projects in patients with TIA, stroke and other vascular events, including work on clinical epidemiology of the very large Biobank and OXVASC datasets, supporting clinical trials and performing human cerebrovascular physiological studies, including transcranial ultrasound and MRI-based methods of measuring cerebrovascular haemodynamic function. Applicants must be qualified to MRCP level and be GMC registered. The postholder will be expected to apply for a higher degree.

This post is funded by the Alzheimer’s Society, and the Centre for the Prevention of Stroke and Dementia is also funded by the Wellcome Trust, National Institute of Health Research and the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre. It is located within the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences in the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford and is associated with the Acute Vascular Imaging Centre and the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging. The main research interests are the secondary prevention of stroke, hypertension, vascular dementia, and in the aetiology of vascular disease more generally. The unit currently comprises >30 researchers and support staff, including senior clinical researchers in neurology and geriatrics, clinical research fellows, statisticians and programmers, research nurses and laboratory scientists.  

The post is full-time for a fixed-term until 31 March 2022 in the first instance.
