Opportunities at the University of Nottingham in Ningbo China

Join a unique British University in China. The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign university to open its doors in China. Located in the modern, coastal city of Ningbo, our award winning campus offering a UK style education has grown to establish a student body of over 7,000 in just 14 years.

The School of Education at UNNC currently offers 2 different Masters programmes (the MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and the MA in International Higher Education) and is also home to a thriving professional doctorate programme (EdD). In addition to these offerings, staff within the school are also actively involved in the delivery of educational training programmes and outreach work with local schools, colleges and universities, and there are plans for further expansion in each of these areas from 2018 onwards. The School is thus seeking to appoint an Associate Professor in Education as part of these plans for growth.

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver lectures, seminars and be involved in professional outreach initiatives across the range of offerings from the School of Education’s current portfolio, but be particularly focused on the MA in International Higher Education and the professional doctorate programme. We are therefore looking for academics with relevant experience and who are able to offer strong credibility in teaching in Higher Education, specializing in any of the following areas: International Education; Educational Leadership; Interactive Pedagogies; Teacher Education and Professional Development.

The ability to contribute to a spread of different areas across the School is a definite plus and candidates able to offer this will be given priority. In addition, the post-holder will be expected to conduct research in areas relevant to the School’s interests, bid for and successfully win funding, supervise doctoral students and undertake administrative duties as required.

Salary will be within the range of £51,630-£61,618 per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond these scales is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and health insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China for a period of up to 5 years starting March 2019 or as soon as there after. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
