MRC Harwell Institute, Harwell, Oxfordshire
We are looking for a Technology Transfer and Partnership Officer (TTPO) to manage the technology transfer at MRC Harwell. This will include: drafting and reviewing contracts, collaboration agreements, Material Transfer Agreements and other agreements needed to facilitate our scientific research. This will involve balancing competing interests such as: protecting academic freedom to operate (use of results and intellectual property, publication); maximising the opportunities for translation and knowledge transfer, and where possible exploitation; funder’s/sponsor’s terms and conditions; managing risk through negotiation of warranties, liabilities and indemnities in accordance with approved risk management frameworks; ensuring compliance with MRC policies, procedures and best practice; recording research governance arrangements, requiring a good knowledge of applicable legislation and guidance and explaining how these apply to the research being proposed.
While we would ideally employ someone experienced in technology transfer and partnership management, we would also be willing to consider someone with a degree in a biological subject who is looking to develop a career as a Technology Transfer Officer. The crucial skills needed are attention to detail, an ability to understand scientific information and an interest in developing your knowledge of technology transfer. You must also be able to read, understand and report on complex documents.
Choosing to come to work at the MRC (as part of UKRI) means that you will have access to a whole host of benefits from a defined benefit pension scheme and excellent holiday entitlement to access to employee shopping/travel discounts and salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme.
We are based at the MRC Harwell Institute, a major international research institute at the forefront of studies in mouse genetics and functional genomics (www.har.mrc.ac.uk). The institute investigates a wide variety of mouse models in order to enhance our understanding of the molecular and genetic basis of physiology and disease.
