Introduction 

Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) is one of the prestigious universities in Canton, China which specializes in international studies and educates professionals for international business and management.

Founded in 1965 as the Department of English under Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Languages, the Faculty of English Language and Culture (FELC) is one of the oldest and academically most established faculties at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. Over its 50 years of dedication, FELC has made outstanding achievements in teaching, research and the development of academic disciplines, and is highly recognized across the country. The Faculty FELC has now 93 full-time teachers, among whom there are 29 professors, 24 associate professors, three Yunshan Outstanding Scholars, and seven Yunshan Young Scholars. Besides eight scholars on national academic recognition programs and another eight on provincial ones, the Faculty is also proud to have one National Master Teacher, two Provincial Master Teachers, one Provincial Outstanding Teachers, and five Provincial Excellent Teachers.

Rated “Excellent” in the first national evaluation of undergraduate teaching by the Ministry of Education, English language and literature at FELC has been variously recognized as an outstanding program by the MOE and Guangdong Province. It has one nationally distinguished and four provincially distinguished teaching teams, three nationally distinguished and five provincially distinguished courses, one national and 11 provincial teaching achievement awards, fifteen nationally and three provincially recommended textbook series, and two provincially recognized bases for student innovation or practice. FELC offers BA degree in English Language and Culture in orientations such as British and American literatures, advanced translation and interpreting, cultural and media studies, information management, convention exhibition and international tourism, and linguistics; MA degrees in English Language and literature, Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Comparative Cultural Studies and Language Teaching Technology and Assessment; and PhD degrees in English Language and Literature, and Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. 

Requirements: 

The ideal candidate will be a high-level speaker of English with a BA, MA or PhD or equivalent in English communications studies, movie studies or contemporary political philosophy, better with teaching experience, but not necessary.

Duties:

  1. Teach a course in English communications studies, movie studies or contemporary political philosophy.
  2. Help supervise BA theses.
  3. Other duties required by the faculty.
